Cleveland Fire Brigade actively supports its emergency planning partner agencies with a dedicated officer, located in the Cleveland Emergency Planning Unit.
We believe that successful incident management, and achievement of shared objectives, can only come from working closely with our partners in the Local Authority, Police and Ambulance Services.
We also work closely with private sector partners in the appropriate areas of the business community to reduce the risk to the local community.
We work to our partner’s shared objectives as well as our own corporate vision and objectives:
Emergency Planning Shared Objectives:
- To save life;
- To prevent escalation of the incident;
- To relieve suffering;
- To safeguard the environment;
- To protect property and minimise business disruption;
- To facilitate criminal investigation and judicial, public, technical, or other inquiries;
- To inform the public;
- To promote self help and recovery;
- To restore normality as soon as possible;
- To evaluate the response and identify lessons to be learned;
- To implement the lessons learnt through appropriate control measures;
Cleveland Fire Brigade Corporate Vision:
"To be the best Fire & Rescue Service at protecting local communities."
Our Approach
Our approach is characterised by “joined-up”partnership and professionalism that is reflected in our contingency planning and has been carefully built up over the years. This ensures robust incident management through pre-planning, execution of the scenario, to a thorough debrief and beyond.
We plan, prepare and train thoroughly with partners, holding regular exercises covering a wide range of potential scenarios. All this is done to a set of agreed protocols and compliance to the appropriate legislation, but which remain flexible and adaptable to cover almost any eventuality.
Achievement of shared objectives, and our own corporate vision, means we have to be able to respond to all foreseeable challenges, as well as deal with the inherent risks our operating area may throw up.
